MY THOUGHTS
The Invisible Man is a site dedicated to honest debate that is sorely lacking in today's political world.
I am a libertarian.
I have been called a "white supremacist" for nothing more than disagreeing with someone. I myself am a half Iraqi half Hungarian jew whose family had to flee oppression on both sides and many of whom (in my parents generation) were killed.
It's that awareness of what oppressive regimes are truly like that has led me to understand where I feel the role of government should be, where it can overstep and the dangers of identity politics, socialist / marxist ideals and the uprising of violence as a means of dealing with language and ideas we disagree with.
I invite debate and comments... even if I disagree with them.
THE TEN TENETS OF THE INVISIBLE MAN:
1: I do not believe in the right to not be offended in a free society.
2: Individuals are more tolerant than masses.
3: If you don't like my site... leave, you are free to do so. If you don't like a show, don't watch it, you are free to do so. If you do not like an opinion, ignore it, you are free to do so. You are not free to harm or threaten another individual because you disagree with them.
4: You are responsible for yourself, your own life and your own well being. No one else owes you anything. They may be nice and offer you things but that is the difference between obligation, which is the opposite of freedom compared to good will. Societies do not function freely when they function out of government obligating it's citizens.
5. If your opinion has formed in to a firm belief it will be nearly impossible to break or change. It will serve you no benefit other than to make your thoughts rigid,leading to fundamental positions and views. Be open to the idea that you may very well be wrong... or at least that others may be right as well.
6. Not everyone who disagrees with you is Hitler. Stop calling everyone you dislike a racist... it serves no benefit to anyone.
7. Most people are doing what they believe is right and just. Even if you find someone elses position repulsive, be aware that they are acting out of what they believe is "right". Vilifying or attacking them for their position / view as oppose to debating them simply re-assures them of this.
8. If you feel someone shouldn't have an opinion because of their race, gender or religion then don't bother debating here.
9. Nobody has a right to police another's speech in public (short of advocating for violence or threats). My site is not public :) So if I feel like deleting something I may do so. If you dislike it you can start your own site. Chances are I won't delete anything short of blatant racism or calls to violence.
