Where do jews go for solace?

Something stinks in the world today...

YES... We all agree the far right hates the jews. We all agree that white supremacists are literally trying to kill the jews... but the mainstream left has become an enabler and denier of anti semitism and it's time someone held up a mirror.

Denial or ignorance of anti semitism is not new. Only 56% of the world population have even heard of the holocaust and only 33% of the world population believe it to be an accurate description of the death toll. One third of millennials did not know or believe that 6 million jews died in the holocaust and 66% do not know what occured in Auschwitz.

It's also important to note that most people are unaware the world population of jews is 15 million. TOTAL! IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! let that sink in. There are over 1.5 billion muslims, 2.3 billion christians and (i repeat) 15 million jews.

I recently asked myself where jews go for solace?

Anti semitism is at record highs in Europe where jews are fleeing by the day. One must simply look to the rhetoric of the likes of Jeremy Corbyn among countless others to see how far gone things are.

Anti semitism in most middle eastern countries is not only endemic its the standard and in many cases when polled 99% to 100% of the populations in countries like Jordan, Syria and others held anti semitic beliefs.

In the US and Canada jews are still the number one group targeted for hate crimes (something the left refuses to talk about). This is not by a small margin but four times higher than the next religious group under them (muslims). The media and the left widely ignore this as an issue and claim jews have privileged status in society. If being the number one group attacked and threatened for your beliefs is a privilege then they are right... jews win. It's that same notion and narrative that jews are privileged which is subtly connected to the anti semitic rhetoric that "jews control the media, the world etc" that further justifies and motivates more anti-semitism. The world by and large does not truly respect Israel's right to defend itself and spend their time vilifying it with false narratives. In fact in Europe, Israel was among the most hated countries just after North Korea, pakistan and Iran. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia, etc... All considered better than Israel in the eyes of polled Europeans. The UN spends 95% of it's time vilifying israel. The irony? The UN is run by leaders of countries that are actual human rights violators. I have heard on more than one occasion, politicians and public figures in America, Canada and Europe compare Israelis to Nazis (let that sink in), calling for the ban of Israeli films, teachers etc... I have seen them inflate death tolls ten fold and distort the situation in Israel at any chance to demonize the state and the jews within it. This is endemic in the media as well, that refuses to have honest reporting on Palestinian/Israeli conflict. When reuters is literally caught on multiple occasions photoshopping photos to vilify israelis there is a problem. People love to say there is a difference between anti semitism and being anti Israel. I would agree to a large extent... but when you spend your time vilifying, demonizing trying to delegitimize and destroy a country, the only country that is majority jewish, and obsess over it while pushing false narratives while simultaneously ignoring death tolls in countries right next door 1000's times higher... than you are at a minimum an ignorant hypocrite and at worst an anti semite

It doesn't end there. Jews in American universities are harassed and in some cases punished for their support of Israel. I remember personally experiencing this in Montreal at Dawson College immediately after 9/11. The teacher had ranted about how the US are invading other countries so this was a natural response. I had calmly responded by saying we should be praying for the thousands of dead people not looking for who to blame at this moment. His response? To go on an angry tirade about how Israelis are the real terrorists and I should be ashamed. This was so extreme in fact that students stood up and held him back. I have had long winded arguments explaining to absolute strangers in public that israel is not an evil country when they overhear me speaking hebrew and feel the need to tell me how terrible a place it is. This most recently happened with an employee at FedEx who overheard me talking to my mom in hebrew.

The sadder reality is that suffering is not new for the jews. My parents both had oppressive pasts. My mother an Iraqi jew, had to suddenly flee her home and everything she knew in the mid of night due to the turning tide of hatred toward her kind. My father born immediately after the holocaust to traumatized Hungarian parents who lost everything (including the majority of their families lives). Their histories not worthy of the remorse or remembrance of the modern day left who see's jews as privileged.

So this brings us to 2018. Today. The aftermath of 11 jews killed in a synagogue in Pittsburgh. I would have hoped for a unified response to this attack, this tragedy. I would have hoped for a nation gathered behind one message. Finally, if ever. One single voice... That this was a hate filled anti semitic attack and it was wrong.

Nothing more. Nothing less. and yet the response, to my regret, across liberal friends on social media, the left leaning news castors and even political figures... was to make this about (you guessed it) TRUMP!!!... The left has taken the deaths of 11 dead jews who were killed for their religion and identity, and managed to mangle it in the most disturbing, self serving way, to suit their political bias and narrative. It serves no purpose other than to detract that 11 jews were killed for nothing more than their identity. Where is the conversation of Anti Semitism? I am not a fan of Trump's rhetoric and I don't like how he speaks, but the man is not an anti semite, nor did he advocate for this or justify it in any way. The shooter himself was vocally anti Trump. Here is my issue with this. It's the utter shameless disgusting hypocrisy. The left only cares about jews when they can find a way to manipulate it in to their own self serving narrative. How many times has Trump been compared to Hitler? I just read an updated article on the washington post titled "Don't call Trump Hitler, it belittles Hitler". These are people who don't care about the deaths of 6 million jews. These are people who care about how they can use the deaths of 6 million jews to attack a man they dislike. I find this train of thought reprehensible.

There were 7000 anti semitic attacks while Obama was in office. Anti-semitism was never part of the dialogue, was never acknowledged and was widely ignored by the media and the left. It was a non issue according to the victimhood scale of identity politics. There was only silence... and when there was conversation of jews it was focused on condemnation of the state of Israel.

The left has not only become the most anti israel force in the world today, it is also among the most anti semitic, and sadly the difference between the left as a whole and the right is that the "far right" be it insane, violent and hateful is the minority of that party while the "mainstream left" as a movement, at least in its views of israel and even its perception of jews, is common place.

Let's look at the facts. We had president Obama who literally went to Rev. Wright's church for 20 years. TWENTY YEARS!!! An avid and vocal anti semite with a huge following. Yet all it took was a quick "I don't agree with his views" for the left to say... well Obama is clear of any wrongdoing. We have Louis Farrakhan taking pictures with Obama, that the media literally hid. Just last week Louis Farrakhan said Jews are termites. A month before that he said jews are the enemy. Where is the condemnation from the left? Keith Ellison was nominated to chair the DNC and has had private dinners with Farrakhan among others. Linda Sarsour is celebrated by the left and yet spews the most disturbing false rhetoric against israel, is a supporter of Hamas and who's own family and friends are imprisoned for terrorist ties and conspiracy to murder jews. Yet these are some of the voices of the left. Real anti semites... real jew haters with violent rhetoric... this is acceptable to the left... somehow, these people are not to blame... Here is my suggestion. If your initial instinct after you hear 11 jews are killed is to make it about Trump... then you don't really care about jews. If you do then speak up and denounce Farrakhan, Sarsour and others. If you do, when you hear people talk about how Israel is a genocidal apartheid state... prove them wrong. When you hear people make comments about jews being privileged, jews having to much power in the media, jews controlling hollywood, jews being cheap, say something... and most importantly, if you really care about jews, when 11 are gunned down in cold blood for nothing more than their faith, make the conversation about anti semitism... nothing more... nothing less.
